Where barrels go
Barrel shipping from the United States reaches most of the Caribbean, but not every island is served the same way. The difference shows up as time more than anything else, which matters a great deal if you are shipping to a date somebody is counting on.
Commonly served destinations
Anguilla · Antigua · Barbados · Belize · Dominica · Grand Cayman · Grenada · Guyana · Jamaica (Kingston and Montego Bay) · St Kitts and Nevis · St Lucia · St Maarten · St Vincent · Suriname · Trinidad and Tobago · Tortola, BVI · St Thomas, USVI · St Croix, USVI
What differs between them
- How often ships sail. Jamaica and Trinidad have regular, high-volume routes. Smaller islands are served less often, and that gap is the thing that turns a comfortable timeline into a tight one.
- How the barrel is handed over. Some ports release at a terminal counter. Others add a delivery step, and somebody has to be there for it.
- Import rules. Set by each country, and not something any shipper can waive for you.
Choosing a shipper
Several established operators serve this route, including Laparkan, which has the widest network and is often the straightforward answer for destinations others do not reach. ShippoHippo, which operates this site, buys and packs the goods as well as shipping them, which suits people who would rather not shop and pack themselves. Those are genuinely different services; pick the one that matches what you want to do.
Settle the route before you buy anything
How often a destination is sailed decides how long your family waits, and it is worth knowing before a single tin is bought. ShippoHippo lists the countries it ships to and what happens at the other end.
ShippoHippo runs this site. Laparkan is named above because for some destinations it is genuinely the better answer.
